Down to Rock Bottom

A shot taken yesterday downstream from Snoqualmie Falls of the old power plant. The river is EXTREMELY low this year, and there are kayakers, rafters, and floaters galore in the river, and people walking along the banks of the river. The base of the power plant, which is discolored and has the vertical openings, is usually at least partially underwater, if not completely. Like I said, the river is REALLY, REALLY low right now. That will change as soon as the fall rains start.

  1. Wow, the water IS low this year! Soon it will be the rushing, raging river it should be! It looks more like the lazy river people float down at amusement parks right now... LOL.

  3. There was a very bad flood in my hometown in the mid-'80s which actually changed the direction of the river and at one point you could actually walk across it in various spots.(prior to flood it was deep and had strong white-water rapids where they held rafting/kayaking trials). Lovely landscape in your shot - hope the river fills back this fall.

  5. Wow, with water that low, you really get to see more of the river bottoms. Interesting what it looks like when the rains start. Cool kayaker, too.

  6. Wow Pat, that IS low. Do the falls even fall right now? This has been quite a summer, hasn't it? I've heard that there may be some rain the the forecast next week. Today is the first day we haven't had at least one fan running in the house, It's eerily quite.

Thanks for the plant ID, I knew you'd know!
